Kathy's Kennel opened for business over 15 years ago as a pet boarding facility. Kathy Sprowls, owner, opened the kennel after working as a Vet Tech with her father, Dr. Alvin Shapiro. She worked beside him for more than 20 years at McKee's Animal Hospital, which is the same building where we are located.
For seven years now, Laura, Kathy's daughter, has been working with her as the office manager. Three years ago Laura moved to Orlando, FL, where she is still involved in office duties for the kennel. Laura also manages to find time away from sunny FL. to visit and play with all the pets staying in the kennel! Just like the generation before ... the love of animals came from being in the building since childhood.
Shawn, Kathy's son, also spent many of summer hours working at the Kennel. He now lives with his wife, Maria, and their new daughter, Ashley, in the Washington, DC area, they also have two additional beautiful daughters, (four-legged) Savannah and Izzy.
Kathy prides herself on being a small family owned kennel. She loves getting to know every client and their "best friend." She still shares cute and unique pet stories with her father.
Recently Kathy's Kennel was renovated to better serve our clients. We added bigger cages, a grooming area, and improved our pet exercise areas.
Kathy loves to get to know your pets ... make sure you tell her how you selected your pet's name ... and if you want bring some photos to put on our photo wall!!
